The mysqltuner.pl domain is back!

After some frustrating renewal issues with the registrar of mysqltuner.pl, it’s now back under my control and valid for another year. I’ll be looking to move it to another registrar within the next year so these issues won’t crop up again.

Also, I still get e-mails from users who are concerned about the security of their system when they see the instructions on downloading the script:

wget mysqltuner.pl

The script makes no adjustments to your system whatsoever. The mysqltuner.pl domain is a Polish domain name with the .pl tld. When you query mysqltuner.pl in a browser, you’re automatically redirected to the script using a simple mod_rewrite rule in apache.

Anyone available to test MySQLTuner on AIX?

I received a patch from Baptiste M. that allows MySQLTuner to determine the architecture and total physical memory on a server running AIX 5L. I’ve rolled the patch into github, and you can download the updated minor release there.

The v1.1.1 release also contains a patch from Isart Montane which allows MySQL to check for users without passwords and for slaves that don’t have read_only enabled. This patch has been tested briefly and appears to work well. I didn’t make any recommendations based on the check since many DBA’s may not be interested in using this setting on a slave that is well secured.
